When a catastrophic earthquake decimated the country in 2010, Deux Mains founder Julie Colombino-Billingham saw the need for dignified employment. That was the catalyst. Koio makes luxurious, sustainable footwear for men and women that will elevate your everyday style. They work exclusively with an artisan studio in Florence, Italy. They only use sustainable materials. Regenerative leather is sourced from farms in the Swiss Alps that are reversing carbon emissions, restoring soils and increasing biodiversity. Then it's Zeolite tanned using minerals rather than chrome, aldehyde, and heavy metals. Leather Working Group certified leather is tanned in facilities that are safely and responsibly managing emissions, energy and water consumption and waste. Vegan products are made from apple leather. Their LACTAE HEVEA® soles are made in France using responsibly sourced milk from hevea trees. Even the laces are certified organic cotton. Other sustainable materials include cork, recycled rubber and recycled polyester. Last, but not least, Koio offers a recycling program to ensure the impact of their shoes remains low even after they reach end of life.

Nisolo makes responsible footwear, bags and accessories for women and men. 95% of their leather uppers originate from Leather Working Group Certified tanneries. At their solar powered factory in Peru, all employees are paid independently-verified living wages and have access to in-house financial literacy training. Nisolo also works with an ethical factory in Leon, Mexico, and independent artisans in Kenya. They maintain 0% net carbon emissions by measuring, reducing and offsetting 100% of their carbon emissions from the start of their supply chain all the way to product shipment. Their Shoe Reclamation Program incentivizes customers to participate in upcycling and recycling. It's no wonder Nisolo is a Certified B Corporation.

Thousand Fell footwear is closed loop and fully recyclable. All shoes are crafted in Brazil at a family owned factory. The mesh sock liner is made from aloe vera to combat bacteria and keep your sneakers fresh. The outsole comes from a net zero emissions natural rubber supplier. Insoles come from a recycled rubber supplier. Thousand Fell worked with a sustainable mattress company to develop a breathable castor bean oil based foam perfect for footwear. Their bio-leather is made from recycled plastic bottles and is coated with a bio based resin made from corn waste. They use locally sourced palm leaf, sugar cane and coconut husk fibers from food waste in Brazil to replace many of the plastic component parts commonly found in the shoe industry. They take your old TFs back, recycle them in the US and put them into future TFs.
