This solar powered factory uses vegetable tanning methods free from toxic chemicals, treats wastewater, reduces water usage by up to 50% and repurposes waste and byproducts into collagen for beauty products.

See All Ten years ago, Krochet Kids and Known Supply's founders started a production facility and community development project in Uganda, a country ravaged by rebel violence and civil war. This has grown into a global social enterprise. Each Known Supply & Krochet Kids piece is hand-signed by the maker, and customers can search the Known Supply site to read each maker's bio. Krochet Kids products are handmade by artisans in Uganda and Peru. Known Supply makes all of their woven hats at ASI which is the world's first Fair Trade Certified production facility in China. All apparel is made in a factory in Peru that provides meaningful job training and employment to women and offers onsite childcare. They also work with four Fair Trade Certified factories in India.

At their solar powered factory in Peru, all employees are paid independently-verified living wages and have access to in-house financial literacy training. Nisolo also works with an ethical factory in Leon, Mexico, and independent artisans in Kenya. They maintain 0% net carbon emissions by measuring, reducing and offsetting 100% of their carbon emissions from the start of their supply chain all the way to product shipment. Their Shoe Reclamation Program incentivizes customers to participate in upcycling and recycling. It's no wonder Nisolo is a Certified B Corporation.

See All SOLS is a women-owned footwear brand founded by sister duo Liz and Cici that celebrates their Mexican-American culture and supports artisans. Every pair of SOLS is ethically designed, woven and finished by artisans from Mexican pueblitos. SOLS pays fair wages so makers can provide for their families. Without SOLS, many of these artisans would have to travel far distances to sell their shoes or take their children out of school to work. SOLS are made from sun tanned leather shaped with vegetable oil or vegan cactus leather. Natural and recycled rubber. And non-toxic, water-based glue.

The original TTV effort (called Overseas Needlework and Craft) was founded by Edna Ruth Byler as a program of the Mennonite Central Committee. In the late 1940s, Byler traveled to Puerto Rico and met women who were unable to feed their children. She asked them if she could take their needlework art and textiles back to Ohio, sell them and send the profits back to them. Thus sparked the idea for a global maker-to-market movement. TTV is clear in its mission to break the cycle of generational poverty and ignite lasting, positive social change. At TTV, you can trust that every purchase directly impacts the life and community of its maker in a developing country.
